Neal
Neal is a highly experienced combat sports coach with over 40 years dedicated to martial arts, boxing, and athlete development.
His journey began in 1985 in Shotokan Karate, where he built a strong technical foundation, progressing to earn his 2nd Dan black belt. He later transitioned into freestyle sport karate, becoming a regular competitor, achieving national success, and advancing to 3rd Dan black belt.
In 1998, Neal won the WAKO Points Fighting title (-63kg) and was selected to represent Great Britain at the European Championships in Kiev—marking his emergence as an international-level athlete. That same year, he began his amateur boxing career, securing a debut victory before committing fully to the sport.
He continued to develop across multiple clubs, gaining extensive ring experience training and sparring alongside high-level amateur and professional boxers. Neal turned professional in 2006, competing in the super lightweight division, further broadening his experience and understanding of the sport at an elite level.
This journey provided him with invaluable insight into both the performance and structural demands of boxing—knowledge he now uses to guide and support the athletes he coaches.
From 2009 onwards, Neal has continued to evolve, expanding into grappling disciplines and competing recreationally in JuJitsu, Judo, Freestyle Wrestling, and Sambo, while refining his technical expertise across both striking and grappling arts.
Alongside his own training and competition, Neal has been coaching amateur boxing and boxing for fitness since 2009. His approach is built on technical fundamentals, real fight experience, and a strong emphasis on discipline, resilience, and hard work—while ensuring sessions remain engaging and enjoyable.
In 2025, at the age of 47, Neal underwent a total hip replacement and successfully returned to training within six months. This experience has further strengthened his perspective on longevity, recovery, and sustainable performance—principles he now integrates into his coaching philosophy.
Neal is the founder of Hitlab Fitness, where he delivers structured boxing programmes for both fitness and competition. He currently coaches multiple sessions per week, working with beginners through to competitive athletes.
Neal’s coaching is defined by honesty, depth of experience, and a genuine commitment to helping individuals improve—whether their goal is competition, fitness, or personal development.
